There are only three reasons I ever stop at McDonald’s: $1 coffee, a late night McFlurry and the occasional Shamrock Shake.

I rarely, if ever, eat fast food. (Gotta keep the hopes of a 6-pack alive)

Always very interesting when a brand expands a product line. Either there was extreme demand for it or the line was getting boring and needed a change. I’m guessing it was the latter.

According to BrandEating, McDonald’s will reportedly release its legendary Shake in five flavors this year.

Aside from the original flavor (vanilla soft serve mixed with mint-flavored Shamrock Shake syrup), the Shamrock Shake has four new flavors: the Chocolate Shamrock Shake, Shamrock Chocolate Chip Frappe, Shamrock Hot Chocolate, and Shamrock Mocha.

Want to get to know the flavors a little better?

The New Shamrock Shake Flavors

Original Shamrock Shake – A blend of vanilla soft serve and mint-flavored Shamrock Shake syrup. New this year is a sprinkle of green sugar crystals to go with the standard whipped topping and maraschino cherry.

Shamrock Chocolate Chip Frappe: a Chocolate Chip Frappe (mocha frappe base, caramel frappe base, chocolate chips, and ice) blended with Shamrock Shake syrup and finished with whipped topping, green sugar crystals, and a drizzle of chocolate syrup. There is really nothing about this that sounds like a bad idea, minus the sugar.  Who’s counting anyway?

Chocolate Shamrock Shake: A layered shake with chocolate shake on the bottom and Shamrock Shake on top. It comes topped with whipped topping, green sugar crystals, and a drizzle of chocolate syrup. Sounds like a hell of a good time, if you ask me.

Shamrock Hot Chocolate: a hot chocolate with Shamrock Shake syrup. Probably better called a mint hot chocolate, right? Not sure if I’d even try this one, but you may be into this sort of thing. I’m not judging.

Shamrock Mocha: a mocha with Shamrock Shake syrup. My least favorite of the list. Not sure why, it just doesn’t sound too appealing.
