I love getting cool cars to drive, more importantly, I love getting practical cars that look great, to drive.

The 2016 Kia Sorento fits the bill.

The one thing you all know about me is that I love the front fascia of any vehicle I drive. If my car doesn’t look mean passing by you in the other lane, I don’t like it.

Here’s a great shot of how mean the front of the 2016 Kia Sorento looks. Them lights though.

Ok, let’s get to the real interesting stuff.

Enzo’s Likes:

  • Big cabin, very practical
  • Seven seats! Talk about road tripping. Don’t have to leave anyone behind.
  • Standard set-up is amazing.
  • Like the Kia Optima, everything is “smart” on the interior.
  • I didn’t test it, but I like that it has good tow ratings for pulling that boat down to the river 🙂

Enzo’s Dislikes:

  • For a Kia, you could spend over $40k with some packages. You’re entering European base territory with that price.
  • Steering is fluffy. I get that it’s built for comfort, not the track, but, it could have been a bit tighter.

2016 Kia Sorento, a great SUV for all purposes

IMG_9361Enzo’s Thoughts

The 2016 Kia Sorento’s interior looks eerily similar to the 2016 Kia Optima. That isn’t a bad thing at all! I like to think of it as a roomier Optima, with a bigger booty.

The third row in the back is perfect for road trips (or families). It provides a TON of extra seating space. The downfall is that it eliminates a lot of trunk space, so if it’s a long road trip or you need a lot of luggage, then you’ll have to do without.

This isn’t a car. If you compare it to an Audi Q5 of BMW X3, you’re going to be in for a disappointment. The Kia Sorento, in my opinion, isn’t a mash-the-gas, hairpin corners type vehicle.

The 2016 Kia Sorento is really well equipped, and the automatic gearbox Kia easier and more relaxing to drive.

Riding down bumpy roads is comfortable, overall, although larger holes cause quite the shudder throughout the cabin, probably because of how stiff the body is built.

I mentioned the steering earlier as a negative. I like my vehicles to have less electronic compensation, and this one seems to have a little too much. However, with that being said, the light steering is great when parking or navigating a multiple point turn.

Check out some quick videos of the 2016 Kia Sorento side mirrors opening and closing (I thought this was SUPER cool):

Conclusion

Is the 2016 Kia Sorento the right SUV for you? That’s hard to say.

If you’re looking for performance, this probably isn’t your machine.

If you’re looking for a functional, spacious SUV with options for a third row, the 2016 Kia Sorento IS for you!

I highly recommend going and taking this puppy for a test drive if you’re considering an SUV for your next purchase.

  1. Pretty. 🙂 I don’t think I would have looked at Kia for a vehicle like this but this looks nice! Thanks for sharing your pros and cons.
